About E&ICT Academy Scheme Phase-II

The E&ICT Academy Scheme Phase-II would continue to focus on improving the quality of faculty of institutes, colleges States/UTs by organizing faculty training programs by leveraging building upon the capacities and the capabilities of the existing 7 E&ICT Academies setup in premier academic institutions, and extending the same to other institutions, specifically in tier-2/tier-3 areas for wider proliferation. The E&ICT Academy Phase-II considers a hub-and-spoke framework for wider proliferations, wherein the existing Academies would act as a “hub” and provide support to a network of Spokes of Lead Academy, besides, ICT Academy Tamil Nadu, E&ICT Academy IIT Kanpur, and Participating Academies viz. NIELIT/C-DAC Centre. It may also be important to assist faculty members in developing the skills and knowledge they need to teach and conduct research in interdisciplinary areas, design new FDPs that incorporate multiple disciplines; effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies for interdisciplinary learning; inclusive learning environments to teach students about diversity and inclusion, etc. The main deliverables envisaged under the E&ICT Academy Scheme – Phase II:

  • Training Scope: Train 135,000 faculty members and trainers across engineering and non-engineering colleges, polytechnics, ITIs, and PGT educators.
  • FDP Development: Develop at least 350 new and unique Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) in cutting-edge technological areas, focusing on future work trends and industry-specific requirements.
  • Long-Term Enhancement: Improve the teaching abilities of faculty in Higher Educational Institutions for long-term impact.
  • Advanced Knowledge: Increase faculty expertise in specific engineering topics or research areas, enabling them to serve more effectively as experts and mentors for students.
  • Up-to-date Expertise: Ensure faculty members remain current with the latest developments and advancements in their respective disciplines.
  • Improved Technology Use: Enhance the use of technology and resources in the classroom to boost student learning and engagement.
  • Professional Growth: Provide opportunities for increased professional recognition and career advancement for participating faculty members.
