Why Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) builds smart machines that imitate the human behavior. This course aims to discuss neuromorphic computing based on promising spin electronics technologies for AI applications. Recently, neuromorphic computing has demonstrated huge potential for information processing at low power that leads to highly energy efficient systems. This course will help participant gain knowledge about design of AI systems from Minds to Machines level. Implementation of such systems with emerging devices will also be dealt.

Objective of the Course

  • An Insightful Exploration of workings of human brain ranging from Software, Hardware to Biology.
  • To introduce the areas of Computational Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Neuromorphic Computing and Neural Networks.
  • To learn various methods, approaches and tools to collect and analyze brain data.
  • To provide a forum for students, researchers and professionals to interact and collaborate.
  • Getting hands-on experience of collecting brain waves with the help of EEG and then applying ML/DL to do a classification task.

  • Course Content:
  • Introduction to Machine Learning, Deep Learning and live demo of brain waves
  • Spintronics, Building blocks of cognition and STDP, discussions on how they are interconnected
  • Retrieving information from EEG and detecting mind-wandering from the same
  • Discussion on memory in mind and machines and what can and can't be detected from EEG
  • Functional connectivity in the brain, more ML techniques for EEG
  • Discussion on how can the artificial systems use connectivity information
  • Research with and for society and discussion on bridging the gap between academia and industry
